Single-Payer Health Care: What Is it, and Can We Afford It?
Time & Location
About The Event
On Wednesday evening, May 1, the Citizens Action Network and the St. Bonaventure University Visiting Scholars program will be hosting a free presentation by Dr. Leonard Rodberg of Queens University, NYC, on the economic costs and benefits of establishing a single-payer healthcare system in New York via the New York Health Act. The program will be held in the auditorium of the Walsh Science Center (#27 on the map at https://www.sbu.edu/sbucustom/interactive/sbumap/map.aspx) beginning at 7:00 PM, and will include time for questions from the audience.
Dr. Rodberg is Professor of Urban Studies at Queens College/ CUNY in New York City, where he has served on the faculty since 1981. He has written and spoken extensively over the years about the American healthcare system, focusing most recently on the NY Health Act, which he strongly supports. His talk will address perhaps the most contentious issue surrounding the bill, its potential cost.
Citizens need to know the facts on this subject so that we are not led astray by those who seek to stoke fears about single-payer healthcare plans. Plan to join us, and bring a friend!
